AUSTRALIA'S FIRST LEVEL 4 CLEAN MARINAS
Congratulations to Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia and the Marina Hindmarsh Island who were presented with the first Level 4 Clean Marinas Certificate by the Hon Pat Conlon (Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Energy).
To achieve Clean Marina status, marinas are independently audited against a 143 point check that assesses environmental facilities, practices and procedures. In order to qualify for the new Level 4 accreditation, participating marinas must be ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems) certified.
The Clean Marinas accreditation is part of MIAA's on-going program to keep Australian marinas at the forefront of best environmental practices. The program is sanctioned by the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA).
