MSC
Over-fishing now threatens the continued survival of world fish
stocks and the 200 million jobs they sustain.
In
an attempt to reverse this trend, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
and Unilever formed the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and set
a mandate to promote sustainable fishery practices throughout
the world.
To achieve this, the MSC developed an environmental standard for
sustainable, well managed fisheries and a supply chain standard
which ensures sustainably fished seafood is tracked from wildcatch
to dinner plate.
TQCSI is the only certification body, accredited by ASI on behalf of MSC, which is based in Asia.
TQCSI offers MSC Fishery certification and Chain of Custody certification through its many Regional Offices throughout Asia. These certification programs can be adopted throughout the supply chain from Fishery to Processor to Wholesaler to Retailer/Restaurant.
TQCSI
works in partnership with Rural Solutions SA for the delivery
of MSC certification. Rural Solutions SA provides integrated consultancy
services to, both, government and commercial customers operating
within the seafood industry and other primary industries such
as agribusiness, natural resource management and rural communities.
